Esther is the Open University skills and training lead for AI and Digital Capabilities. She has extensive experience in implementing digital transformation and innovation projects, focusing on a human-centred approach to supporting and developing staff capabilities and confidence, to harness new technology and sustainable ways of working within the broadcast and higher education sectors.
She has worked on projects including the BBC’s move from tape to digital production, and multi-platform broadcasting. At the Open University projects include the adoption of delivering learning via the VLE, creating OpenLearn and FutureLearn, and working with academic teams to help develop their online learning content. She has written many courses for OpenLearn on Supporting Hybrid Working, Digital Transformation and understanding sustainability.
Esther is an advocate for digital inclusion, reducing the digital divide, and developing a greater understanding of digital sustainability to assist in reaching net-zero targets and meeting UN SDG goals. Having been a school governor, and as part of her current role, she has an interest in ensuring continuous learning opportunities throughout all stages of life, and more understanding of societal challenges to provide more equitable opportunities to ensure the ability for individuals to develop the skills for the future.
